John Hair

John Hair graduated from the University of Witwatersrand with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Business Studies. In 1994 he joined the private client department of Henderson’s where he worked as an assistant to the CIO, David Collingwood. In 2002 Newton acquired Henderson’s private client department. At Newton, John managed private client portfolios, ran the income and growth model, covered the commercial property sector and later became Head of Investments for Private Clients. In 2013 Newton’s private client department was sold to Standard Life. Following the merger with Aberdeen Asset Management the private client department became Standard Aberdeen Capital (SAC).

John is CIO of the private client business and runs a global thematic process. He has 11-12 IMs with specific research responsibilities reporting into him. He also runs a personal book of £250m across 50-60 relationships and circa 100 accounts.

In summary, John has a deep investment background and very strong relationships within his client base given his length of tenure on clients and being the key driver of their investment performance.
